EU Forced Labour Instrument – Call for Evidence
“In September 2022, the European Commission intends to publish its proposal for a new EU legislative instrument to effectively ban products made by forced labour from entering the EU market. The European Commission has now opened its Call for Evidence for this law, which is open until 20 June 2022.
With the EU the world’s largest single market, an EU law on products tainted by forced labour is extremely significant. It is vital that NGOs and trade unions around the world submit into this Call for Evidence, in order to influence the European Commission to put forward a proposal which is meaningful and drives remedy to workers.
In this webinar, Anti-Slavery International and ECCHR will provide background to this debate in the EU and provide guidance and suggestions to groups interested in submitting into the Call for Evidence.
We are holding two webinars to encourage global participation due to time zones. These webinars will not differ in content: Webinar 1 is at 10:00-11:30 am CET on 8 June. Webinar 2 is at 17:00-18:30 CET on 8 June.”
